Protection in the High Court for couples who opt for court marriage
A couple can always go to the police station and report the harassment first.
Many couples are forced to get married in a non-traditional way due to the disagreement or disapproval of their parents, society, caste, or religion. However, their parents, close relatives, or even society regularly harass them with baseless allegations.
The High Court has begun to recognize and accommodate couples who are not married but are living together or intend to do so. By its action, the Court is demonstrating how much it is trying to adapt to how society has changed and how Article 21 is being used more widely in all walks of life. As a result, the Supreme Court and the High Court provided protection to spouses and established rules regarding their life and liberty.
